THIS EDITION
PHOTOGRAPHY - MARINÓ THORLACIUS
This object, a cross-lapped black silver signet ring, was originally made in 2012 in our studio in Iceland from silver sourced from within the earth for the Autumn and Winter 2013 collection:
FIELD DRESSING
Where The Darkness Divides
To update this item for the year 2023, it is now made in France by our partner OSS, an Argentinian workshop, from provincial silver, oxide inducing Sulphur, silicon molding, and human energy.
TWISTED is formed by heating silver in a crucible to above 970 degrees Centigrade and pouring into a silicon mold.
Centrifugal force pushes the silver into all parts of the mold, whereafter it is removed, quenched, and finished by hand to prepare for oxidation – Human curiosity and its nature in a harmonic grasp.
All the alkhemikal efforts that make a ring for the representation of character, visual semantic, and aesthetic illusion.
The rings were developed by cross fitting intersecting layers of leather and card, under the influence of 3D model layer-slice CNC-aesthetic, in the applied process of lazer cut surfaces and their use in constructing full volume forms from 2D sheets.
The design has not been altered from their original version - These new rings have been cast from the first samples.
